Microwave popcorn, homemade?  This was a duh moment for me, but it works and I will no longer buy microwave popcorn.  

1/2 cup unpopped pocorn

1 tsp vegetable oil 

1/2 tsp salt

In a small cup or bowl, mix together the unpopped popcorn, and oil.  Pour the coated corn into a brown paper lunch bag, and sprinkle with in the salt.  Fold the top of the bag over twice to seal in the ingredients.  

Cook in the microwave in an upright position at full power for 2 1/2 to 3 minutes (or until you hear pauses of about 2 seconds in between pops).  Carefully open the bag to avoid steam and pour into a serving bowl.  

Tweaking…..This makes quite a bit so I half the recipe and it works!  The only draw back to this method is that it really needs to be “babysat” so that it does not burn.  This recipe was found at  www.allrecipes.com.  This site allows users to leave comments or suggestions.  One comment that was repeated several times was the use of a tiny staple in the fold of the bag.  This kept the bag from coming open (and no it did not ruin the microwave).  I have not tried this because I have a fear of damaging microwaves.  I wonder why?
