  • Seafood tends to toughen when cooked for a long period of time    add during the last hour
  • Cayenne pepper tends to become bitter over a longer cooking time – add during the last hour
  • Fresh/Tender vegetables (mushrooms, tomatoes, squash, etc.) can be over cooked – add the last hour
  • Use dried leaf herbs rather then ground for a stronger flavor or add fresh herbs in the last 2 hours
  • Always cook and drain ground meats before hand
  • For best results fill the slow cooker 1/2 full to ensure the liquid will not cook away
  • Pasta and rice are better cooked separately and then added when serving
  • For a little extra: Sprinkle chips, crouton, sliced green onion, fresh herbs, or grated cheese.
